Friend,
When someone asks you to keep something for them you understand that they’re asking you to hold on to it, guard it, and preserve it. Keeping something well means that you hold it securely in your possession against all harm. Let’s talk about “keeping” things today.
Over and over again the Bible asks us to keep God’s commandments.
“The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.” Ecclesiastes 12:13
Our motive for keeping God’s commandments is: God asks us to and He is God. There’s another motive as well.
“The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all evil; He will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and you’re coming in from this time forth and forevermore.”
Psalm 121:5-8
Beloved, we keep God’s ways because He keeps us! The almighty, all powerful, supreme creator of the universe eternally holds on to, guards, and protects those who seek Him and keep His ways.
Are you experiencing the safety and peace of being kept by God? He has supreme authority. He is able, and will keep you securely in His love. Ask God to help you believe that you are being kept from ultimate harm in Him. Ask Him to help you keep His commandments. Keep the faith! You can, because He is keeping you!
